That about sums up my day. We woke up this morning and all seemed normal until Emma got downstairs and told me that something must be in her hair because it's stuck to her ear. Turns out, she ruptured her eardrum. Ick! It was gooey and slimy and running down the side of her head. After a quick phone call to my ear expert, Amy! :) I decided to keep Emma home and give the doctor a call. Surprisingly he took her in right away and in no time she was prescribed some of these goodies and given a referral to an ear, nose and throat specialist.
It's really not a big deal. These things happen all the time it's just rather gross. I spent the rest of the day swabbing all the gooey crap from around her ear just as it started to run down her head. I can tell you, I think I went through a million q-tips just so that she didn't have to deal with this gunk all over her head and in her hair. No worries, I never actually stuck it in the ear canal but at times I was wishing I could stick a plug in it to stop the guck.
Hopefully the drainage will stop by tomorrow so that she can go to school but if it's still draining it will be another day at home with me. And I really hope we can get to see the specialist soon because she isn't allowed to swim until she does. That is not going to fly with my little fish.
Try as I might, I couldn't get yesterdays photo to work out as I would have liked so I tried it again today. I still hate it but at least I tried. I just couldn't figure out a good exposure when trying to take a photo of the computer screen. Anyways, here is yesterdays photo. My favourite evening reading material.
It's Jen's blog. If you are curious just follow this link. She is my sister-in-law and this is a great way to keep up on each others lives. Plus, she is the one who got me going on this Project 365.

Glad to hear Emma is all sorted out and that you will be going to see an ENT! You are lucky she is old enough to tell you about ear aches etc. Poor Quinn from birth was dealing with it :) 3rd set of tubes was a charm..ear infection free for almost 4 years now...but man that child ran up a huge antibiotic bill!
Should have taken a picture of the goop coming out!!!! I would have :P
Oh no! I hope she is feeling better. Is she in pain? I hope she's okay.
Awww...thanks for the picture with my blog! Your blog is my evening reading too. I was sad when there was no post on Monday. :( But I knew you were busy.
I too enjoy reading the two blogs and getting updated every day. I look forward to getting to work and seeing what is posted. Great job Shannon and Jen. You both spend a lot of time on this and it is appreciated.
Mom
Ah, poor Emma. That happened to my sister when she was about 4, and it is gross. And stinky. Blech.
Oh my goodness, your poor little girl! And can I just say, EWWWW!! Hope she feels better very soon!
Ouch, that doesn't sound fun at all! Poor Emma! Hope she feels better soon. Great pictures of your messy day, anyway!
